Nampa Offices Closed for Juneteenth Holiday
In honor of the federal Juneteenth holiday, the City of Nampa said its municipal offices will be closed on June 19.
The city marked the date as June 19, 1865, when it said Texas announced freedom from slavery and the full establishment of President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation of 1862.
The city also cited the civil rights history referenced by the U.S. Declaration of Independence, including the phrase “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”
The city said residents should check with the Nampa Public Library and the Harward Recreation Center for their holiday hours.
