Volunteer Transport Service Boosts Veteran Mobility

The Boise VA Medical Center and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) have partnered to offer a volunteer transportation program for veterans. The program provides free rides to and from the veterans' homes and the Boise VA Medical Center. Transportation services are available to residents in several areas. For rides in Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell, veterans can call 208-422-1177; in Twin Falls, call 208-734-9091; in Burns, Oregon, call 541-589-1552; and in Baker City, Oregon, call 541-406-9053.

The program is run with the help of volunteer drivers. Vehicles and fuel are provided for those who volunteer, but they must pass a health exam and a background check before being approved to drive. Those interested in volunteering can begin the application process by calling 208-422-1175.
